KONSHENS

Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Konshens is well on route to becoming a musical powerhouse. It’s been a while since Jamaica has delivered a globally appealing artist and Konshen’s certainly has the ability to resonate to a worldwide audience. Internationally recognized for his contribution to the reggae–dancehall genre, he is now winning hearts among the casual gaming audience with his latest single, “Jamaica Dance.” The song is featured in the 8–million selling blockbuster Just Dance 3 video game from Ubisoft. “Jamaican Dance” is produced by Ubisoft and Circle Road Records and is currently available on iTunes. Early response from some radio minds and other media influencers is that Konshen’s delivers a sound that could be as globally–appealing as the multi–Platinum selling sound of the Caribbean’s Baha Men!

THE CHEVIN

The Chevin (pronounced “The Shev-In”) are four young men from Otley, West Yorkshire, consisting of Coyle Girelli (vocals), Mat Steel (guitar), Jon Langford (bass) and Mal Taylor (drums). Fans of the West Yorkshire tourist board are already sure to know that The Chevin is also the name of the hill that surrounds the band’s hometown…and home is very much where the heart is for The Chevin. Girelli, Steel and Langford started playing music together at school in Otley, while the group’s lineup was ultimately completed when they later enlisted the services of drummer Taylor, another old school friend. Now they are called The Chevin—and they are about to shake the alt-rock world to its floundering foundations. The Champion EP, released on Halloween 2011 through Fierce Panda, is The Chevin’s first-ever release. The featured title track is insanely epic, manically widescreen, heroically uplifting and destined to soundtrack Goal Of The Month montages, “X Factor” breakdowns and all manner of valedictory celebrations for years to come. The Chevin recently performed at the Worldwide Radio Summit and MUSEXPO Los Angeles and were one of the most talked about bands of the week. Their upcoming diary is filled with a support slot with Franz Ferdinand and later this year, they’ll be touring with MUSE. One of the standout tracks from the debut Borderland, which is forthcoming on Fierce Panda/SO Recordings is the title track. This is a band that you’ll be hearing a lot from in the near future.
